BOSCO – Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota – is a not-for-profit charitable organization, established in 1980 by the Salesians of Don Bosco and registered in 1986 under the Society’s Registration Act of 1960. BOSCO, the acronym is “Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota” which means, the organization of those who serve on the streets of Bangalore or literally, “the association of those who serve youngsters on the streets of Bangalore”.
As an integral part of its mandate to support children in need of care and protection, BOSCO focuses on promoting and strengthening its outreach, education, vocational training along with non-formal education,holistic development of slum communities, child rights, child care, health care and research and documentation.
BOSCO also closely works with the Government of Karnataka for the protection of the rights of the childrenwith special focus on children and youth in distress.

Each of the 10 centers of BOSCO acts as a hub of activities and services for the young at risk. Children and youth reside at these centers as per their age, gender and what they do. At these centers they undergo definite rehabilitation programs in their journey towards social reintegration.

BOSCO is a well know NGO in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore city, working for the rehabilitation of children on the streets, runaway children, child labourers, trafficked children and other vulnerable children. It is working in close collaboration with Government in taking care of the children in need of care and protection. I extend my best wishes to all their endeavours.

BOSCO is rendering a good service through the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of children and young at risk into mainstream society, by providing shelter, training and means of livelihood. BOSCO has been associated with the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Karnataka State for many years and has been implementing Government programmes like CHILDLINE, SJPU, Missing Child Bureau, Open Shelter etc.
The efforts of BOSCO in collaboration with Integrated Child Protection Scheme and District Child Protection Units in creating awareness about the welfare of the children among the general public, students, police department, schools and other stakeholders is highly commendable. BOSCO is doing favour for children who are at risk by rescuing and nurturing them into a responsible individual/citizen from the past 40 years.
